Arbitrator and Mediator
Barry is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), an International Mediation Institute (IMI) Certified Mediator, and a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He was the Presiding Judge of the BVI Commercial Court (2015 - 2018).
Barry is experienced in arbitrating, mediating, and judging, as well as acting as counsel in a wide range of disputes including corporate and commercial, contract, shareholder and business breakup, joint venture, business torts, directors’ duties, employment, insurance, intellectual property (patent, trademark, and copyright), fraud and asset recovery, technology, trust, fiduciary duty, expropriation, natural resources, and construction disputes.
His industry experience includes financial services, natural resources, energy, insurance (property and casualty; life and disability) and reinsurance, air transportation, technology, intellectual property, manufacturing, and construction.
Barry, who is a Canadian, also is an independent arbitrator and mediator with Arbitration Place, 33 Bedford Row, and Caribbean Arbitrators. In addition to being a lawyer, he holds an M.B.A.
